Tarwin River: History, Culture and Country

The Tarwin River and its catchment lie within the traditional Country of the Bunurong and Gunaikurnai peoples, who have lived with and cared for these lands and waters for tens of thousands of years. The river was a source of food, a route for travel, and a place of deep cultural significance.

We Love the Tarwin acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the catchment and their continuing connection to land and water. We are committed to learning from Traditional Knowledge as we work to restore the health of the Tarwin.
