Water quality monitoring across 12 sites in the Tarwin catchment during 2022 showed continued challenges from agricultural runoff and elevated nutrient levels, particularly after heavy rainfall events. Several sites in the upper catchment showed improvements compared to 2021, attributed to riparian revegetation work undertaken by landholders supported by SGLN.
Monitoring parameters include temperature, pH, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, nitrates and phosphates. Data is collected quarterly by trained community volunteers and analysed by an independent laboratory.
