Flood Recovery: Restoring the Tarwin After 2024 Floods

Heavy rainfall in June 2024 caused significant flooding across the Tarwin catchment, with the main river reaching its highest level since 2012. While flooding is a natural part of the river’s cycle, the loss of recently planted riparian vegetation was a setback for restoration efforts.

We Love the Tarwin is working with affected landholders to assess damage and plan replanting. SGLN has applied for emergency restoration funding and will coordinate volunteer planting days from August onwards.
